Presence Magazine | Robert Paul Properties

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Commonwealth Real Estate and Robert Paul Properties are proud to be a part of the organization, The Sunshine Kids, a non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer. Established in 1982, it is committed to providing positive group activities and emotional support for young cancer patients. The Sunshine Kids offers a variety of programs and events, free of charge, for children who are receiving cancer treatments in hospitals across North America. The Sunshine Kids Foundation was founded by Rhoda Tomasco in 1982 while she was serving as a volunteer in the pediatric cancer unit of a hospital in Houston, Texas. After seeing the loneliness and depression among children during their extended hospital treatments, Rhoda had a vision to provide these young cancer patients with opportunities to participate in positive group activities that promoted selfesteem, personal accomplishment, and just plain oldfashioned fun! Today, that vision has been realized many times over, as thousands of children from hospitals across the country have reaped the benefits of The Sunshine Kids Foundation’s many programs and national and regional events. Funded by personal contributions, corporations, and foundations, the Sunshine Kids continue, as it has since its inception, to provide all of its activities completely free of charge to the children and their families. The Sunshine Kids organization offers a variety of local activities throughout the U.S. for children of all ages and their families. These activities range from exciting weekend getaways to meeting celebrities, participating in art programs, attending holiday parties, cheering at sporting events, and much more! The core mission is to allow kids to have fun and be kids again while fostering a sense of community and connection among families facing similar journeys.
